Fractional CCO · Founder advisory · Crisis readiness

A chief communications officer for founders and CEOs with complicated problems.

22+ years in global comms, most recently as CCO of a PE-backed portfolio company. I'm in the room before the hard decision, and on the phone with you at 11pm when it goes sideways.

My take

A strategy nobody can repeat isn't a strategy.

Every strategy gets retold. A manager retells it to their team. A sales lead retells it to a customer. Your CFO retells it to investors, and a reporter retells whatever's left to everyone else. What survives that chain is your actual position in the market, not what's in the deck.

Most of what leaders read as an execution problem, or as a bad press cycle, is the same problem underneath: too many versions of the story in circulation. When there's one version people can carry, decisions get made two levels down without a meeting, and the company still sounds like itself when the news is bad.

That's the work I do with you, before the announcement rather than after it. It takes more listening than telling, which is why it doesn't happen in a launch week.

The practice

Three main ways to work with me:

01

Fractional CCO

For select clients, I will partner with you as the senior-most communications strategist for a fraction of the price as a full-time CCO. Strategy, team structure, and the analysis no one else wants to start.

02

Founder brand and narrative

The founder is the narrative whether anyone planned it or not, so we define it on purpose: the one claim you want on the record, the LinkedIn cadence that carries it, and a speaking calendar chosen for the rooms that matter rather than the invitations that arrive. It costs you about two hours a month, most of it writing.

03

Crisis readiness

Product recalls, food safety scares, AG inquiries, a supply chain that came apart. I've led crisis comms through all of these and many more, so the playbook already exists — we adapt it to whatever you're dealing with instead of writing it at two in the morning.

The CCO Dispatch

Global communications intelligence delivered daily

Every morning I analyze and brief 10,000+ subscribers in 20+ countries on the issues in front of CEOs and CCOs that week: which narratives are failing to land, which layoffs are getting leaked before they are announced, and what the earnings calls are telling us about global markets. It's daily, which is a lot — most people read three a week and skim the rest. That's fine.
